Health & Safety Disclaimer
Workout Buddy provides general fitness and educational information only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for the advice of a qualified physician or other healthcare professional. Always consult your doctor before starting, changing, or stopping any exercise, nutrition, or wellness program. By using the app you agree to the terms below.
Who this is for
Workout Buddy is intended for healthy adults 18 and older. It is not designed for children, and pregnant or postpartum users should follow their physician’s guidance before exercising.
Not medical advice
Everything in Workout Buddy — workout programs, exercise instructions, set and rep recommendations, progress charts, and any text generated by the in-app AI coach (“Buddy”) — is general information to support a fitness routine. It is not personalized medical advice and does not account for your individual health conditions, injuries, medications, or limitations.
Nothing in the app should be relied upon to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. If you have a medical concern, talk to a licensed healthcare provider. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read or were shown in this app.
Any nutrition, calorie, or supplement information in the app or from Buddy is general and is not a personalized diet plan. Consult a physician or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you have allergies, a medical condition, or a history of disordered eating.
Consult a professional first
Exercise carries inherent risks. Before beginning any program in Workout Buddy — and especially if any of the following apply to you — get clearance from your physician:
- You are new to exercise, returning after a long break, pregnant, or recently gave birth.
- You have, or have had, a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, or any chronic illness.
- You have an injury, joint problem, or any condition that could be affected by physical activity.
- You take prescription medication or are under a doctor’s care.
- You are unsure whether a particular exercise is safe for you.
The AI coach (Buddy)
Buddy is an automated AI assistant powered by a large language model. It is not a doctor, registered dietitian, physical therapist, certified personal trainer, or any other licensed professional, and no coach–client or provider–patient relationship is created by using it.
- Buddy’s replies are generated by software and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not appropriate for your situation. Use your own judgment and verify anything important.
- Buddy does not know your full medical history and cannot evaluate your health. Do not use it for medical, diagnostic, or emergency purposes.
- Any program changes Buddy proposes are only applied after you review and confirm them. You are responsible for deciding whether a suggestion is right for you.
Listen to your body
Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness, faintness, nausea, an irregular heartbeat, or pain that is sharp, sudden, or unusual. Mild muscle soreness can be normal; sharp or persistent pain is not — do not “push through” it. Warm up properly, use safe form and appropriate weight, ensure your equipment is in good condition, and progress gradually.
In an emergency
Workout Buddy is not an emergency service. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number (such as 911 in the United States) or go to the nearest emergency room right away. Do not rely on the app or Buddy for urgent help.
No guarantee of results
Individual results vary and depend on factors outside the app’s control — your effort, consistency, genetics, diet, sleep, and starting point. Workout Buddy makes no promise of any particular fitness, weight, strength, or health outcome.
Assumption of risk & limitation of liability
You use Workout Buddy voluntarily and at your own risk, and you assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damages, known or unknown, that may result from physical activity undertaken in connection with the app. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of Workout Buddy is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising from your use of the app, its content, or the AI coach. This disclaimer is in addition to, and does not limit, the Terms of Use.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of Workout Buddy from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your use of the app or your violation of these terms.
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or your use of Workout Buddy, are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise. To the extent permitted by law, any such dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
If any provision of this disclaimer is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will stay in full effect.
Changes to this disclaimer
If this disclaimer changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the app means you accept the current version.
